~* 24 week ultrasound *~

The wait is over! We finally got to see our baby BOY through the 3D ultrasound. It was so special to see him up close, although he was being pretty stubborn and wouldn't move his hands away from his face long enough to get a glimpse of his mouth and chin. (I wondered if he would have a Sell chin). His heartbeat was 150 and he is doing well! The ultrasound tech saw his 'parts' right away with the 3D, but she reminded us there is always a chance of being wrong (although it is pretty clear) so she said keep our receipts!! :-) She also joked that we had better leave his hands out from blankets or he might scream, he just didn't move them down for all her poking and prodding! At one point he crossed his wrists up under his chin and that is exactly how I sleep, it was so cute! He also put his little finger up at us so we had a good laugh at that! Robby was walking pretty proud out of that clinic and of course said "I told you so!" We'll keep looking at names. He likes the name Brayden. And, now we can stay with our nursery theme of green, blue, and brown and baby deer/bunnies. Only 112 days until our bundle of joy arrives!

Today and Monday we both have the day off to relax and get ready for the Packer game Sunday! Ryan and Kasey are taking Rita and Austin (for his first game ever) and Ricky is also going with some of his friends so we will have a good cheering section! Our seats are near the tunnel so hopefully we get a good glimpse of the players running in at half time. Please pray for good weather and that the baby has a good time too! Love you all!

~* 22 Weeks *~

Good morning! Here I am at 22 weeks. The baby bump is clearly visible :-) I can't wait for December 15 to come so we both can see our baby again! As I write this baby is kicking me!

Robby is winding down with classes but still going full force on homework... he says it never ends! I just have to remind him that it will all be over before we know it and then hopefully he will have his own classroom! He is excited/nervous for his student teaching at Lewis & Clark Elementary in South Sioux City starting January 3rd. He has the 1st grade. His cooperating teacher says he was placed there in particular because he is male and there are more male students than female that need male role models (alot of them don't have fathers). That touched my heart because I know he will make a difference in those kids' lives! I am so proud of him and what he is accomplishing.

My job is going great. I am working on a big research project for 2012 already that is taking 50% of my time at work. It gives me the opportunity to work with new people and learn new code (back to Oracle/SQL again for those nerds reading this, even some C#). I will more than likely be working on it until April when I will go on maternity leave for 6 weeks. Then if they still need me I'll pick up where I left off when I get back and we may be working on it into the summer.

We are still hunting for a house to buy/rent. We actually put in an offer for one in Hubbard, NE, but we weren't comfortable offering what they were asking because the house needed so many updates (carpet, windows, siding, etc.) They ended up going with a different offer. It was on the market only a week! If nothing else comes up soon, we will find somewhere to rent for the time being.

Baby is enjoying the exercise walking around Christmas shopping, especially because I make him/her sit still most of the day at the computer. Baby's ornry Heiser cousins are coming to visit this weekend since Ryan has his Christmas party for work already. It will be the first time we have them both overnight so I am excited, and I'm sure they will keep us fully entertained!! That is Carson up above, along with the baby bib I made and our Packer Christmas tree. Cami quilted that beautiful tree skirt for us! Until next time, Stay warm! Love you all!

21 Weeks ~ Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here is a video of the baby's heartbeat! It is official, the 3D ultrasound will be Thursday, December 15, and we will finally be able to find out if the Heiser baby is a boy or a girl! That Friday is Robby's last final, Saturday we are heading to Kansas City to go watch the Packers play the Chiefs (Sunday game) and the 12th we should have our new vehicle! We have so much to be thankful for!

19 Weeks

Here we are... at 19 weeks and almost to the halfway point! Technically I won't be 19 weeks until Saturday, but close enough. It is crazy to think the pregnancy is almost half over. And the baby and I will only get bigger! We have been pretty busy the past month with weddings! Whitney and Mike were married and so were Andrew and Johnna. The baby and I boogied at Whit's wedding and it was especially active during 'Party in the USA', so that told me it must be a girl :P We both enjoyed the cupcakes/cake at the wedding, for sure! (and all the other delicious food...) Congratulations to both! This does not close out the wedding season for us, however; Robby is in his buddy's wedding December 31! So I will have to bust out the maternity dress I stole for $4.00 one more time this year.

Robby is gearing up for the big week of this whole semester, where he will be teaching in Norfolk for his clinical. That is next week, so he said after that it will hopefully be all downhill until Christmas. We looked at his finals schedule for the week of December 12, and he does have a final on Friday the 16th when we had planned to go in for my final ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby. So, we are planning to reschedule that for Thursday, December 15 since he only has a morning final that day. I can't wait!!!! We are both excited to put the guessing to "rest" although it has been fun going back and forth. He is still committed that it is a boy, and I am starting to think it's a boy too. I have had 3 dreams now about boys and only my first dream was that it was a girl.

We have started our baby registry at Target (YAY!) which we were also excited about. AND... I have an idea for the nursery (if we have one)! The stroller/carseat my sister bought for the baby is brown and has other pale blue/green colors in it, and it has cute baby deer, owls, bunnies, etc. on it. So.... I want to stick with that theme. If you all are curious what it looks like, go to Target's website and search for "Meadow Menagerie"... that will bring up a few items that we have on our registry including the high chair, pack n' play, and swing. Oh I wish we could find a house we could move into! We may decide to just rent a place closer to my work until we can save up a bit more $$ and find the right house. Please pray we find something before January! We have the next 2 weekends at home so we are going to head to Sioux City to look more.

My next Doctor's visit is November 17 with a new doctor, Dr. Hamburger. My co-worker uses him for her primary OB and says he is great. This one will just be another routine where they will measure my belly and I will hear the heartbeat. We have decided on St. Luke's to deliver and will start our birthing classes (2 total) in January. They have a great facility and took care of Brian when he was there, and also in the unlikely event I were to have a C-section, they have a NICU to keep the baby in, where Mercy does not. I don't know that I could handle having the baby in a seperate facilty from me if that happened :( So now, we just need to decide on a family doctor/pediatrician! That is all for now... I will post another belly picture at 20 weeks and update you again next week after my doctor's appointment! I tried to also upload a video of the baby's heartbeat from last Dr. appt. but my email is blocking it :( I will try again later. Ya'll have a great week and keep cheering on the undefeated Packers!!! :-)  Love ya!

We heard the heartbeat!

I couldn't stop smiling once I came out of the doctor's office yesterday. The baby's heartbeat was 145! My belly measurements were right on track and I'm making progress as I should be. I even recorded the heartbeat so Robby could hear it once I got home. According to the old wive's tale, if the heartbeat is above 140 the baby is a girl and a boy for below 140. The next ultrasound will be December 16 (24 weeks) and we'll get a better guess at what the gender is then!

15 Weeks

The baby bump is getting bigger! Here I am at 15 weeks, after taking the picture I realized black isn't the best way to show off the belly, but it is definitely growing. The baby is about the size of an apple and an amazing thing happened in the middle of the night this week! He/She made their presence known to me! I'm pretty sure baby was telling Daddy to go to bed! :) I go in for my next doctor's appointment this Tuesday with Dr. Jones and I'll finally get to hear the baby's heartbeat! Sometime in November should be the month we find out the gender. Many people have told me they think I am having a girl, but Robby thinks it's a boy. To think our 1st born could be a girl is amazing, but a little boy would be pretty amazing too. A few people at my work have offered us baby stuff, so we already have a swing, bath, diaper genie, and a baby monitor. Cleaning and making room for a baby will be a bit of a challenge in our 1 bedroom apartment but we will make due (unless we find a house we love before then). Robby is halfway through the Fall semester and a lot closer to finding out where he will be doing his student teaching, and I am keeping busy at work. My 6 month review is coming up next week and I can't believe the time has gone so fast there. If you haven't voted yet, there is a poll in the top right hand corner of this blog.

First Ultrasound

Here is the baby!  11 1/2 weeks and so tiny. (Head is on the left and you can kind of tell arms and legs) I didn't get to hear the heartbeat yet but saw it on the monitor and so far everything is great with a due date of April 7, 2012. The baby was very active! They took blood from me this time for a few tests which wasn't a great time. My veins always like to hide and it took 4 pokes before the nurses could get what they needed. My next appointment is October 18 (15 weeks) with Dr. Jones. Robby and I are going to tour both Mercy Medical and St. Luke's in Sioux City before we make the decision of where I will deliver. Next week I will begin my second trimester, so hopefully my energy level picks up :)

10 Weeks along

Hi there Heiser baby followers! I decided to create a blog to document my first ever pregnancy and let you join in on all of the fun. And don't worry, I will post pictures of the ultrasound later!

How/when we found out I was pregnant: I was scheduled to go in for a colposcopy (I was having lady problems) in Sioux City on August 2nd. This wasn't my first go around with the procedure, so I took precautions in case I didn't feel good afterwards and had Robby take me to the appointment (thank God!) 2 days late on my cycle, I went ahead and kept the appointment and he took me in. Of course, the first thing they did was a pregnancy test. I was very anxious sitting in the room waiting for the doc to come in and when she finally did, she said "I have good news!" I instantly knew I was pregnant. I had been feeling a little bloated, and of course the late cycle was another indicator. They determined I was 4 weeks along. Even though my pregnancy test was positive, the colposcopy labs came back negative! The nurse said that was the first ever baby they had discovered before a scheduled colposcopy, but I told her that saved me buying a pregnancy test! :) She gave me the test as evidence so Robby would believe me. They were all anxious to hear me tell him the news but I waited until we got out to the pickup. :)

He was very surprised at first, but knew I was late. He didn't believe it until I showed him the test. Of course we were both nervous and scared and happy all at the same time. We couldn't wait to tell everyone the great news, and the 4 days that followed were so hard to keep it a secret. We are very blessed to be "fertile myrtles" and thank God for our little baby Heiser growing steadily.

Loudest reaction award: Rita of course! Linnie (over the phone) was a close second!

How we are feeling:  So far, Robby has been great with keeping up with my requests. He says all I think about is food and I agree somewhat, but of course I think alot about the baby too. He drives me to the grocery store to get cheeseballs and crackers and to DQ to get ice cream. And of course milk. He never hesitates to ask me if I have taken my prenatal vitamin today and ask me if I am feeling alright. I signed us up for BabyCenter weekly updates so he can also see how the baby is growing and we have fun determining its size. Last week was a grape, and we joked that since our baby is a Heiser it is probably the size of a bing cherry or something larger than a grape :) Daddy is a bit stressed with schoolwork but will be relieved when he graduates.

I am feeling great. No morning sickness (knock on wood) yet, just nausea sometimes when I have an empty stomach and that is easily remedied. Tiredness plagues me constantly, and even though I try to get ahead with bedtimes of 8:30 pm, I can't seem to feel alert during stressful work days and nights. I am pretty much a party pooper and not much company to Robby after 9:00 pm for sure. No cravings for pickles either. Fiber in my diet is necessary. Otherwise, I am very excited to be pregnant and carrying a little baby inside me. There is just something special about this whole process and I am loving it! Delivery scares me a bit, but I have a while to get nervous about that. 210 some odd days in fact. So far I am still in my same clothes, but that will change here soon. Thank you Kasey for the maternity shirts. Her and I are trying to get some exercise in every week too. And of course bowling starts this week!

Our future: is looking pretty hectic. We are looking at trading in my mustang for a 'family car' like a Chevy Equinox. We also looked at a house in Dakota City (where I work) that we are interested in buying so we are in the process of getting approved for a home loan. Robby is busy in college, and I am staying busy at work at Tyson.

Our vote on gender: I am hoping for a girl, but Robby thinks it's a boy of course because he said he makes basketball players. We ultimately just want a healthy, happy baby... what are you guys thinking?

Stay tuned for another post after my 2nd doctors appointment September 20th!
